About Give A Little Bit

We are a nonprofit dedicated to creating practical care, healing-centered programs, and community spaces where people are treated with dignity.

Our Mission

Give A Little Bit Foundation creates conditions where healing, empathy, connection, and care can emerge — one small act at a time. We support people experiencing hardship, offer transformative healing programs, and build community understanding of poverty and homelessness.

What We Believe

Small acts matter. No sincere act of care is too small. When many people make small choices to care, those choices compound into something larger.
Dignity is non-negotiable. The people we serve deserve to be treated with respect, agency, and human dignity — not as cases, charity objects, or problems to solve.
Healing is ongoing. There’s no timeline for healing, no one right way, and no endpoint. Healing is a practice, not a performance.
Systems create barriers. Poverty and homelessness are not individual failures. They result from systemic barriers that compound one another.
Connection matters. Most people need more than services. They need relationships, community, and the sense of being seen and valued.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Give A Little Bit a registered nonprofit?Yes. Give A Little Bit Foundation is incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in Wyoming. We are currently pending 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS. We have also completed charitable solicitation registration in Connecticut. We can legally accept donations and operate programs right now, with proper pending-status disclosure.
How are donations used?Donations support program delivery (direct support kits, healing program facilitation, simulation equipment and training), community outreach, staff/coordinator time, technology infrastructure, and general operational costs. We are transparent about our finances and happy to discuss how specific donations are used.
How do you decide who receives support? For Bits of Care (direct support), we work with outreach teams, shelter partners, and community connections to identify people experiencing homelessness. Recipients are always treated with dignity and given agency over their needs and preferences. All recipient information is protected with consent-based sharing and alias-only profiles.
What's your approach to privacy and storytelling?Recipient privacy is fundamental to everything we do. We use alias-only profiles for all Bits of Care recipients. Before any image, story, or identifying detail is shared publicly, we obtain explicit written consent. Video documentation of kit distributions is always done with permission and only shared with the donor and our community (with consent).
Can I donate items instead of money?Yes. In-kind donations of items for our kits are always welcome. We have specific needs depending on the season and current programs. Email ed@givealittlebit.org to ask what we need most right now, or to discuss a potential donation.
How is Give A Little Bit different from other nonprofits? We focus on three equally important things: (1) direct practical support (Bits of Care kits), (2) community understanding and empathy (One Step Away simulation), and (3) healing-centered work (Brave Notes, Kintsugme, and mentorship for young adults). We're also intentional about governance, transparency, and embedding dignity into every policy.
